An
Exemplification is the ceremony by which a Knight of Columbus of the
Third Degree is inducted into the Highest degree of the Order, the
Fourth Degree. The ceremonial is conducted by the District Master.
He is the conferring officer of the Exemplification and chooses the
conferring team who serve at the pleasure of the District Master. The District
Marshalls
for the
exemplification
are
also
designated
by
the District Master. |
 |
|
It is
required that an Exemplification be held at least once a year in
each district after notice to and by the Vice-Supreme Master of the
Province. |
New Member transactions: The Fourth Degree Membership Document
shall be completed and it, along with the payment of the
Exemplification fee, is facilitated by the Faithful Comptroller
Waiver: Waivers may be
asked for knights with less than six full
months
from the date of his First Degree.
All requested waivers must be submitted in writing to the District
Master using the designated waiver form. The comment section must be
completed giving justification for this candidate to be granted a
waiver. The form must be submitted well in advance because the
waiver can only be granted by the Supreme Master, who requires a
minimum of thirty days prior to the exemplification date to approve
waivers. Special circumstances can be given for priests, active duty
military scheduled for overseas
shipment and candidates with life threatening illnesses.
The sponsor of the candidate for the Fourth Degree, personally
attends the exemplification to assist the candidate. It has become
the tradition of our assembly for an additional number of Sir
Knights also to attend to show support and display camaraderie.
